Some of the best things you discover when you are on holiday are not always what you expect them to be. While my daughter and I were strolling along the beach in Fuengirola we found some amazing sand sculptures. Someone with a keen eye, a steady hand and a love for StarWars had created these amazing sand sculptures for the passing tourists to enjoy.
I was that impressed that I immediately sent my husband a picture of our StarWars discovery, as I knew he would really appreciate it. It’s such a shame he wasn’t able to see them for himself, as I know they would have been a highlight for him too.
Seeing as he hasn’t been able to join us on this holiday, I thought I’d pull our pictures together of Chewbacca and his friends for a blog post. It dawned on me that there might be some other StarWars fans out there that might enjoy these too. I’ve heard there’s a few StarWars fans that hang around on the internet from time to time.
I used to see a lot of these types of sand sculptures in Nerja, but then they seem to vanish. I don’t know if they do still appear there but they certainly seem to be something alive and kicking in Fuengirola.
My daughter and I spent ages enjoying the sand art, and so did many passers by. Everyone was stopping to grab a photo but there wasn’t an artist to be seen anywhere.
There was just a box chained to the wall where we could leave a donation for enjoying the amazing spectacle. It’s a shame the artist wasn’t around as it would be great to know how long it all took to create.
There seemed to be parts of the sculpture that were works in progress, but we didn’t get chance to see how these StarWars master pieces were created.
The StarWars sand sculptures we discovered on Fuengirola beach were definitely a highlight from our holiday. Seeing something like this just ‘pop-up’ on the beach is lovely and clearly brings a lot of joy to people, whether your a StarWars fan or not, you have to admit they are pretty good.
